Nay Pyi Taw is the new capital city of Myanmar and it is located between the Bago Yoma and Shan Yoma mountain ranges. Nay Pyi Taw means “Royal City.”
Uppatasanti Paya (321 ft. tall golden pagoda) is a prominent landmark in Nay Pyi Taw and also called “Peace Pagoda”. The vast interior is lined with vivid carved-stone murals depicting the life and legend of Buddha and key scenes from Myanmar’s Buddhist history.
Other interesting places are Zoological Garden (the largest zoo in Myanmar), Safari Park, Gem Museum, National Museum and Water Fountain Garden.
